Hi Jeremiah,
Love modules music.
Your question is actually 2 folds,
1. Uploading your music, yes my plugin solves this issue by allowing you to FTP to your server and upload the track to your server, my plugin will then convert those tracks into products.
2. Downloading , now if your products are large like 50mb / 80mb depending on your server configuration you may hit the max_execution_time limit. I’ve had this problem with a few sites, and if you are with a shared hosting setup you may not be able to adjust this,,, this is actually not a limitation of my plugin but a limitation in wpecommerce which we have reported as an issue and will work on solving it in 3.9

Hey Jeff, will this help me solve the problem I have with my web server? I only have a 24MB upload limit through webforms, and want to be able to sell singles and albums directly off my site using WP E-Commerce, Cant seem to purchase it here on your site, it add’s it to the cart and tell’s me it costs nothing and then gives me a error, would love to use this on my website…please get in touch at my email ! cheers, Jeramiah/Module

hi Jeff,
i’m just wondering whether you’re still working on developing this plugin? i’m just doing a store for a record label where there’s thousands of tracks (they’re selling individual tracks and albums compiled in zip files). having all of them in one ‘downloadable’ folder is a big pain, hence i need to come out with some kind of solution. i’m not even sure whether you’re still selling this plugin and whether it’s compatible with new 3.8 ecommerce version. if you could update me with the latest news that would be great.

hmm Im not too sure I understand your requirements.. basically it depends on your server configuration how much data your users will be able to download.

Hi Jeff,
I’m looking to add th ability for users to buy a DVD. I’ll upload the chapters as mp4s or some other similar format. What I want to do is allow users to buy the complete DVD and then download the chapters at their leisure. This will make it easier than downloading a complete multi-gig file. Can your downloads importer do this?

That is very peculiar it could be an issue with wpec as my code doesn’t add an ID since te I’d is automatically generated,, saying that I’ll be deprecating (discontinuing my music importer since it is pretty much a weak version of the download importer which kicks ass) it adds product images (one per album / folder) and does all sorts of files not just mp3s!!

the catergory images dont show, and no list view with preview ((

I just need to know if this will display the prieview file in list view, which doesnt happen with the standard goldcart/mp3module combo.

jeff, i saw you posted a solution to getting the preview file to show in list view, but i must admit im not having any luck ;(
ive spoken to dan about this and took a premium token support ticket, but im not sure hell fix it.

im willing to pay a bit for help sorting out having your music downloader, plus preview AND donate ability with the list view.

Hi Jeff,

I’m having some issues with the plugin; It’s installed, and does a great job of importing mp3′s (although sadly not if the file extension is uppercase) and grouping them etc, however, it’s creating some issues for me.

I’m using WP 3.0 and wp-ecommerce 3.7.6.5, on a MAMP local host, although I believe the issue was present prior to a 3.0 upgrade.

It seems the products aren’t being given a product id when uploaded with your plugin. This means that I can’t edit the products (or delete them!) that have been uploaded using the plugin. They don’t appear in the products list, unless I filter them by category. More crucially, it also seems to be throwing the checkout, adding 2 of the same product instead of 1. None of these issues arise when a product is manually uploaded… I wonder if you could share any light on how to rectify this?
