WPEC101 Setting Up a Wp-E-Commerce Site
Upgrade instructions are rather simple,
1. Backup your database ***
2. De-activate the wp-e-commerce Plugin
3. rename your existsing wp-e-commerce Plugin to wp-e-commerce.BAK
4. Upload the latest version here (i would recommend development version):

5. Activate the plugin
Fresh Installation

3. Activate the plugin
Basic First Time Setup
1/ Click on Products > Settings Select a Base Country (and Region if your country has regions)
2. Confirm or change the default Tax settings (If US or Canada Click the regions link to set tax)
3. Then Click Update
4. Go to the settings>Shipping Section. If you are planning on using shipping, Select the shipping module you plan on using and edit the options for the shipping module you require. If you do not plan on using shipping make sure you set Use Shipping to No.
5. Navigate to settings>Payment Options and select the payment option you require and set the required fields for the gateway you selected.
6. Navigate to Appearance>Widgets and add the Shopping Cart Widget (if your theme does not make use of Widgets you can select the ‘page’ option for Cart Location (Settings>Presentation)
6. Navigate to Products>Products Add a product (all products require a Name and a Category.
7. Goto the front end of you shop, navigate to the products page, add the product you added to the cart click ‘go to checkout’
8. Fill in the details and click make purchase, you should be either sent to the gateway page or the transaction results page depending on the payment option you selected.
9. In the backend of wordpress go to Products>Sales You should see an order in the list, click the items link to see a full listing of products / billing and shipping details. If you click go back on this page you can set the Status of the Order to Accepted payment, Job Dispatched, or closed Order.
10. Start customizing your users experience by changing the settings in the presentations page.
*** Due to the variety of servers, and server configuration backing up your database is the best way to stay safe. I have had many users asking me for help, and I have been able to assist them, I’ve only seen one site (out of hundres where their database got totally screwed during the upgrade process this was caused by a tiny memory allocation for their mySQL and PHP on the server) PLEASE for the Love of Microchips Backup your database!
